Trinny & Susannah, I don't agree!

by Lisa Lyford
Trinny & Susannah, I don't agree!

Trinny & Susannah say that black is not a slimming colour. I disagree.

I think black can look very slimming. Why? Unlike other colours, black does not reflect the light, it absorbs it, so it doesn’t create shadows or project reflections on your lumps and bumps. This applies to matt fabrics; shiny fabrics like lycra, satin, silks and sequins are reflective and therefore not as slimming.

Other colours reflect light and naturally attract the eye, so if you’ve got an area of your body you want to downplay, then you’re best to avoid colour or attention grabbing textures and patterns.

Make sure it suits you

Having said that, make sure black actually suits you. If it doesn’t, add a colour/s or some bling that does suit you to key areas like your neck, close to your face.

Don’t limit yourself

We’re not for one moment suggesting you dress from head to toe in black. You just may like to consider it for areas of your body that you want to detract attention from.

If you're wearing the right colour/s for you, then you will look fab regardless.

Oh and please don’t think I’m bagging Trinny & Susannah, I think they’re great and do a fantastic job at making women feel great about themselves.
