When was the last time you went on a date with your partner? If you’ve been in a relationship for a long time, perhaps even have children, it may have been a while since you last went on one. Am I right?

Going on a date is magic. We often get so carried away with life’s routines that we forget to nurture our relationship with our loved one.

Surprise your partner. Book out some time in your diaries or be spontaneous if you can. Do something special. It needn’t be expensive.

Here are some ideas

  • A picnic - it could even be on your back lawn
  • Catch a movie
  • Go for a drink and/or dinner
  • Candlelight dinner at home - I’m talking a special meal. Glam yourself up - check out our earlier blog here.
  • Park up!!

It’s more the thought and time together rather than the actual activity, that’s why some simple little things can work just as well. Be inventive.

You will be amazed at how special the time together can be and how it can help add a little freshness and spark to your relationship.

Don’t just do it as a one-off, keep it going. I know couples that have date night once a week. I appreciate that if you have young children and need a sitter, it can get expensive - consider 'children minding' swaps with friends. Also, encourage your partner to organise date nights too - both of you need to make an effort.
