Many think of hats as purely summer accessories, but they are really one of the best year-round wardrobe staples, capable of enhancing any outfit. They’re also great for hiding a bad hair day and let’s face it, winter brings a lot of those!
In terms of a winter hat, choice of fabric is important with felt and wool being the most popular and best for keeping your noggin warm. Wide-brim, fedora and floppy hats are the perfect styles to look out for and can transition you from season to season as they’re equally on-trend in summer. This winter you’ll see more experimentation with coloured hats (think greys, olives and midnight blues), with black remaining a mainstay from season to season.
The great thing about hats is that there’s really no rules about what you wear them with. They’ll look great with oversized knits and chunky scarves, or equally as good with your favourite winter dress. Wear your hair out or in a loose ponytail/braid and feel free to play around with accessories in matching colours e.g. the same coloured boots, gloves or scarf.
